Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Colonel H.W. Tingley, M.B.E., C.R.E., 3 Airfield Construction Group; Major General Ingles, Chief Engineer, Home Forces; Karl Brown, U.S. Navy; André Josset, French Author; Major Thomas, Pioneer Company Commander, Salermo; British Naval Officer; Ital by Sam Morse Brown was sold in the British, Continental and Russian Pictures auction at Christies in London in August 2006. The price achieved of GBP 2,160.00 (€ 3,212.06) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sam Morse Brown - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The crucifixion of humanity, which sold at auction in August 2006 for GBP 5,400.00 (€ 8,030.14).
