Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Peasants harvesting by Salomon van Ruysdael was sold in the Master Paintings Part II auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2021. It changed hands for a price of USD 13,860.00 (€ 11,421.51) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Salomon van Ruysdael achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Wijdschip And Other Small Dutch Vessels At The Mouth Of An Estuary in January 2015 with an auction result of USD 3,077,000.00 (€ 2,725,420.73).
