A top price for Sakaki Hyakusen - as previously expected
In November 2003 Christies in London held the auction JAPANESE ART AND DESIGN INCLUDING LACQUER AND WORKS OF ART, which included the work Foreigners by Sakaki Hyakusen. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,107.00 (€ 4,460.14) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Foreigners is the most expensive artwork by Sakaki Hyakusen that we have observed at auctions so far.
