Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Russell Smith could be acquired at Christies in New York in October 2003 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction, the work Corn Sheaves and Buggy changed hands for USD 4,780.00 (€ 4,117.50) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Russell Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A view of a valley, Springtime, which sold at auction in March 2004 for USD 16,730.00 (€ 13,610.48).
