Auction result well in line with expectations
The work South Fork of the South Branch of the Potomac by Russell Smith was sold in the American Art Online auction at Christies in New York in November 2019. The price achieved of USD 4,000.00 (€ 3,630.09) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Russell Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A view of a valley, Springtime, which sold at auction in March 2004 for USD 16,730.00 (€ 13,610.48).
