Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work East Village, Beijing No. 27 (Zhang Huan) by Rong Rong was auctioned at Bonhams in April this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,275.00 (€ 1,154.89). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rong Rong achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rong Rong'S East Village, 1993-1998 (Set Of Forty Prints) in October 2010 with an auction result of HKD 475,000.00 (€ 44,101.77).
