This price was achieved in the auction Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 20,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Rong Geng; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Scholar Fishing sold at auction in May 2017 with the realized price of HKD 141,600.00 (€ 16,168.81).
