Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
When the work Paysage sur la côte by Roderic O'Conor was auctioned at Christies in London in October this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at - in retrospect quite modest - EUR 450.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at EUR 2,394.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Roderic O'Conor achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Maisons Rouges à Pont-Aven in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 450,000.00 (€ 527,718.31).
Kunstwerk zum Fünffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Paysage sur la côte von Roderic O'Conor im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – EUR 450,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit EUR 2.394,00 mehr als fünfmal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Roderic O'Conor erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Maisons Rouges à Pont-Aven im Juli 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 450.000,00 (€ 527.718,31).
