Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work View of Montauban, with the river Tarn; and Menton: Promenade St. Michel by Robert Simon was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2009, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 187.50 (€ 202.19). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Simon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Roses de Noel, which sold at auction in March 2009 for GBP 625.00 (€ 673.97).
