Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March 2004 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings, which included the work Portrait of Lord Charles Thynne (1813-1894), small full-length, in a black coat and burgundy waistcoat, resting his arm on a plinth by Robert Scott Lauder. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,075.50 (€ 1,609.93), 20% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Robert Scott Lauder have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Claverhouse ordering Morton to be carried out and shot for having given refuge to Balfour of Burley in November 2010 with an auction result of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 14,937.48).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im März 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Lord Charles Thynne (1813-1894), small full-length, in a black coat and burgundy waistcoat, resting his arm on a plinth von Robert Scott Lauder zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.075,50 (€ 1.609,93) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Robert Scott Lauder auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Claverhouse ordering Morton to be carried out and shot for having given refuge to Balfour of Burley im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.500,00 (€ 14.937,48).
