In June 2009 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings including German, Austrian & Central European Paintings, The Orientalist Sale, Spanish Painting and The Scandinavian Sale, which included the work Austrian Reisigsammlerin (The Wood Gatherer) by Robert Russ. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,534.42), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Russ achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Austrian Der Gardasee Bei Gariano (Gariano, Lake Garda) in June 2009 with an auction result of GBP 103,250.00 (€ 121,160.41).
