Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work When the thorn is white with blossom; and All in a garden fair by Robert Payton Reid was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,400.00 (€ 3,540.51). Admittedly, works by Robert Payton Reid have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work All in a Garden Fair; and When the Thorn is White with Blossom in October 2000 with an auction result of GBP 10,575.00 (€ 18,075.70).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit When the thorn is white with blossom; and All in a garden fair von Robert Payton Reid im September 2006 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 2.400,00 (€ 3.540,51) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Robert Payton Reid auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit All in a Garden Fair; and When the Thorn is White with Blossom im Oktober 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.575,00 (€ 18.075,70).
