In June this year Artcurial in Cologne held the auction Twenty One Contemporary, which included the work Both / And - 2010 by Robert Irwin. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 137,760.00 72% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Irwin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 8,331,600.00 (€ 7,381,589.44).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 72 % übertroffen
Im Juni diesen Jahres führte Artcurial in Köln die Auktion Twenty One Contemporary durch, in der auch die Arbeit Both / And - 2010 von Robert Irwin zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 137.760,00 und damit 72% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Robert Irwin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 8.331.600,00 (€ 7.381.589,44).
