Auction result well in line with expectations
The work View of Nice at sunset (illustrated); and Shipping in the harbour at Savona by Robert Henry Cheney was sold in the WATERCOLOURS OF THE GRAND TOUR FROM A PRIVATE COLLECTION auction at Christies in London in October 2005. The price achieved of GBP 840.00 (€ 1,238.75) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 700.00 – 900.00. Admittedly, works by Robert Henry Cheney have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A panoramic view of the Farnesina and the city of Rome in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 4,182.50 (€ 6,469.38).
