Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Mausolée des Jules at Saint-Rémy de Provence (illustrated); View near Aubagne, Provence; and A fountain at Aubagne by Robert Henry Cheney was sold in the WATERCOLOURS OF THE GRAND TOUR FROM A PRIVATE COLLECTION auction at Christies in London in October 2005. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 700.00 – 900.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 720.00 (€ 1,061.78) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Robert Henry Cheney have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A panoramic view of the Farnesina and the city of Rome in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 4,182.50 (€ 6,469.38).
