Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Ponte Giustino, Padua; The Canal Grande, Venice ; The Colosseum, Rome; and The Madonna dell'Orto, Venice (illustrated) by Robert Henry Cheney was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2005. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,946.60) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Henry Cheney - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A panoramic view of the Farnesina and the city of Rome, which sold at auction in June 2002 for GBP 4,182.50 (€ 6,469.38).
