In October 2005 Christies in London held the auction WATERCOLOURS OF THE GRAND TOUR FROM A PRIVATE COLLECTION, which included the work The Arch of Constantine, Rome (illustrated); View of Tourmagne, Nîmes; and The Villa Belvedere, Naples by Robert Henry Cheney. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,140.00 (€ 1,681.16), 43% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Henry Cheney - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A panoramic view of the Farnesina and the city of Rome, which sold at auction in June 2002 for GBP 4,182.50 (€ 6,469.38).
