In October 2005 Christies in London held the auction WATERCOLOURS OF THE GRAND TOUR FROM A PRIVATE COLLECTION, which included the work Castel Sant'Angelo, Rome; and Cattle watering at Assisi (both illustrated) by Robert Henry Cheney. The auction ended at the price of GBP 1,200.00 (€ 1,769.64), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Henry Cheney - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A panoramic view of the Farnesina and the city of Rome, which sold at auction in June 2002 for GBP 4,182.50 (€ 6,469.38).

Im Oktober 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion WATERCOLOURS OF THE GRAND TOUR FROM A PRIVATE COLLECTION durch, in der auch die Arbeit Castel Sant'Angelo, Rome; and Cattle watering at Assisi (both illustrated) von Robert Henry Cheney zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 1.200,00 (€ 1.769,64) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Robert Henry Cheney mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A panoramic view of the Farnesina and the city of Rome beobachtet, die im Juni 2002 für GBP 4.182,50 (€ 6.469,38) versteigert wurde.
