In September 2001 Christies in London held the auction THE TRAVEL SALE, which included the work The North Pole, London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1910. 4° (290 x 230mm.), and 108 photographic illustrations, 8 of which are in colour, coloured folding map at end (very light occasional marginal browning), contemporary white cloth gilt, gilt oval portrait o by Robert Peary. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,116.25 (€ 1,802.27), 40% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Robert Peary have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Self-Portrait, Cape Sheridan, Canada, 1909 in December 2012 with an auction result of USD 18,750.00 (€ 14,219.63).

Im September 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion THE TRAVEL SALE durch, in der auch die Arbeit The North Pole, London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1910. 4° (290 x 230mm.), and 108 photographic illustrations, 8 of which are in colour, coloured folding map at end (very light occasional marginal browning), contemporary white cloth gilt, gilt oval portrait o von Robert Peary zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.116,25 (€ 1.802,27) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Robert Peary auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Self-Portrait, Cape Sheridan, Canada, 1909 im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 18.750,00 (€ 14.219,63).
