This artwork by Robert Peary achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in December 2012. In the The National Geographic Collection: The Art of Exploration auction, the work June 1906: Robert Peary, His Flag Waves Above Cape Stallworthy Cape Thomas Hubbard sold for USD 6,875.00 (€ 5,213.86) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Peary - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Self-Portrait, Cape Sheridan, Canada, 1909, which sold at auction in December 2012 for USD 18,750.00 (€ 14,219.63).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Robert Peary erzielte im Dezember 2012 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The National Geographic Collection: The Art of Exploration wurde die Arbeit June 1906: Robert Peary, His Flag Waves Above Cape Stallworthy Cape Thomas Hubbard für USD 6.875,00 (€ 5.213,86) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 3.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Robert Peary mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Self-Portrait, Cape Sheridan, Canada, 1909 beobachtet, die im Dezember 2012 für USD 18.750,00 (€ 14.219,63) versteigert wurde.
