Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Lake Mary (Mammoth Lakes, California) by Robert Clunie was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in December 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 3,500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 12,112.50 (€ 10,701.98). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Robert Clunie; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Old Whitebark Pine Tree at Summit Lake, Nth Palisade Range, Big Pine, California sold at auction in November 2021 with the realized price of USD 16,562.50 (€ 14,673.96).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Lake Mary (Mammoth Lakes, California) von Robert Clunie im Dezember 2021 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 3.500,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 12.112,50 (€ 10.701,98) mehr als dreimal so hoch.
