A top price for Robert Bates - as previously expected
In March 2003 Christies in London held the auction British Art on Paper including the Collection and Studio of, which included the work Returning to the Valley of Vision by Robert Bates. The price achieved of GBP 728.50 (€ 1,055.32) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Returning to the Valley of Vision is the most expensive artwork by Robert Bates that we have observed at auctions so far.

Im März 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Art on Paper including the Collection and Studio of durch, in der auch die Arbeit Returning to the Valley of Vision von Robert Bates zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 728,50 (€ 1.055,32) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Returning to the Valley of Vision das teuerste Kunstwerk von Robert Bates, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
