Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2001 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings, which included the work Near Hornberg, Black Forrest by Richard Principal Leitch. The price achieved of GBP 352.50 (€ 568.79) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Admittedly, works by Richard Principal Leitch have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A quantity of unframed watercolours and wash drawings, the majority English and Continental landscapes and maritime subjects, some signed and dated '1879'; and eleven unframed brown wash landscape studies by John Callow in December 2004 with an auction result of GBP 2,270.50 (€ 3,213.38).
