Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a gentleman, small half-length, in a black coat and white stock by Richard Livesay was sold in the British, Victorian and Scottish Pictures including Pictures auction at Christies in London in March 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 822.50 (€ 1,344.57) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Richard Livesay have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Two Springer Spaniels In A Rocky Landscape in October 2011 with an auction result of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,233.19).
