Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2012 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work Shipping on the Thames before the 'Prospect of Whitby' at Wapping by Richard Henry Nibbs. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 4,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 4,250.00 (€ 5,295.31). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Richard Henry Nibbs - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Dutch passage boat, which sold at auction in May 2005 for GBP 10,200.00 (€ 15,058.40).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Shipping on the Thames before the 'Prospect of Whitby' at Wapping von Richard Henry Nibbs zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 4.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 4.250,00 (€ 5.295,31) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Richard Henry Nibbs mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Dutch passage boat beobachtet, die im Mai 2005 für GBP 10.200,00 (€ 15.058,40) versteigert wurde.
