Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An illustration to 'The Newcombes' by Richard Doyle was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2005. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 216.00 (€ 313.51) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Doyle achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Elves in a Rabbit Warren in June 2010 with an auction result of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 30,402.33).
