Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Plant by Richard Deacon was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,394.64). Admittedly, works by Richard Deacon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Breath in June 2010 with an auction result of GBP 85,250.00 (€ 103,671.93).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Plant von Richard Deacon im November 2018 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 11.875,00 (€ 13.394,64) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Richard Deacon auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Breath im Juni 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 85.250,00 (€ 103.671,93).
