Despite a disappointment, a good price for Richard Creifelds
When the work Portrait of Dr. Halsted; and a Portrait of his wife by Richard Creifelds was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 896.25 (€ 729.13). Despite this disappointing result, Portrait of Dr. Halsted; and a Portrait of his wife is the most expensive artwork by Richard Creifelds that we have observed at auction so far.
