Upper estimate price exceeded by 48 %.
The work Duke and Duchess of Windsor, 1957 by Richard Avedon was sold in the Photographs auction at Christies in London in May 2018. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,522.44), 48% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Avedon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Beatles Portfolio: John Lennon, Ringo Starr, George Harrison and Paul McCartney, London in November last year with an auction result of GBP 809,000.00 (€ 937,446.28).
