This work of art by Rev. John Swete could be acquired at Christies in London in March 2011 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Christie's Interiors Including Paintings, Drawings & Watercolours From The Collection of The Late John Appleby auction, the work Eleven views of the Lake District (one illustrated) changed hands for GBP 687.50 (€ 777.90) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00. Admittedly, works by Rev. John Swete have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Views of Devon and Somerset: Bathing-place at Ilfracomb [sic (illustrated); Shalldon sic; Oxton House from the Octagon; The ruins of Berry Pomeroy Castle; A bridge over a river in spate; Ilford Bridge; Linmouth; Pixton Place, the seat of Lady Ackl|AID681630] in November 2010 with an auction result of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 6,273.
