This artwork by Rev. John Swete achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2011. In the The Cowdray Sale: Works of Art from Cowdray Park and Dunecht House,At Cowdray Park, West Sussex auction, the work Aske Hall, Yorkshire sold for GBP 875.00 (€ 1,016.51) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500.00. Admittedly, works by Rev. John Swete have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Views of Devon and Somerset: Bathing-place at Ilfracomb [sic (illustrated); Shalldon sic; Oxton House from the Octagon; The ruins of Berry Pomeroy Castle; A bridge over a river in spate; Ilford Bridge; Linmouth; Pixton Place, the seat of Lady Ackl|AID681630] in November 2010 with an auction result of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 6,273.
