This artwork by Rao Zongyi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in December this year. In the Cultured Legacy: Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy from the Chang Shiu Sig and Tung Shui Wah Collection auction, the work Mount Huang in Mogu Style sold for HKD 352,800.00 (€ 40,823.00) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 150,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rao Zongyi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Auspicious Flowers and Fruits in October 2021 with an auction result of HKD 8,040,000.00 (€ 894,338.64).
