Auction result misses estimated price range

In May 2012 a collector was able to acquire the work A pilot boat guiding a three-masted barque inshore by Ralph Reuben Stubbs for GBP 625.00 (€ 778.72). This price was achieved in the auction Maritime Art at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 700.00 – 900.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ralph Reuben Stubbs achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Trafalgar, at the end of the day in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 5,287.50 (€ 8,414.08).

Im Mai 2012 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit A pilot boat guiding a three-masted barque inshore von Ralph Reuben Stubbs für GBP 625,00 (€ 778,72) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Maritime Art bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 700,00 – 900,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ralph Reuben Stubbs erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Trafalgar, at the end of the day im November 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.287,50 (€ 8.414,08).
