The work Messiah (Boy) by R. B. Kitaj was sold in the First Open auction at Christies in New York in August 2020. It achieved a price of USD 22,500.00 (€ 18,850.54), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 50%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by R. B. Kitaj achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Waiting in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 317,000.00 (€ 449,399.53).

Die Arbeit Messiah (Boy) von R. B. Kitaj wurde im August 2020 in der Auktion First Open bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 22.500,00 (€ 18.850,54) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 50%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von R. B. Kitaj erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Waiting im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 317.000,00 (€ 449.399,53).
