The work An Allegory of Folly by Quentin Massys was sold in the The Scholars Eye: Property from the Julius Held Collection Part I auction at Christies in New York in January 2009. The price achieved of USD 374,500.00 (€ 292,486.72) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. Admittedly, works by Quentin Massys have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Madonna Of The Cherries in January 2015 with an auction result of USD 1,445,000.00 (€ 1,279,893.71).
