The work Chinese Girl Series No.1 by Qi Zhilong was worth HKD 3,847,500.00 (€ 317,082.64) to a buyer in April 2008. This price was achieved in the auction Contemporary Chinese Art II at Sothebys in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 800,000.00 many times over. This high result makes Chinese Girl Series No.1 the most expensive artwork by Qi Zhilong that we have observed at auctions so far.
