Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Masters, which included the work Common Quail, One Male, Two Female by Prideaux John Selby. The price achieved of USD 1,375.00 (€ 1,224.29) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Prideaux John Selby achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Illustrations of British Ornithology. Text volumes: Edinburgh, London and Dublin: W.H. Lizars; Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown, Green, and Longman; W. Curry Jun. & Co., 1833. Im Juni 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Masters durch, in der auch die Arbeit Common Quail, One Male, Two Female von Prideaux John Selby zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 1.375,00 (€ 1.224,29) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 1.200,00 – 1.800,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Prideaux John Selby erzielen.
