Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work Diana And Apollo Killing The Children Of Niobe by Pirro Ligorio for USD 25,000.00 (€ 16,845.23). This price was achieved in the auction The Jeffrey E. Horvitz Collection of Italian Drawings at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 35,000.00 – 45,000.00 set by the auction house. Other works by Pirro Ligorio have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in January 2004 by the work Two princes of the House of Guelph: Duke William VII and Duke Philip VI at USD 22,705.00 (€ 18,234.02).
