The work The interior of a circular classical temple: Design for a stage set, possibly for La Fenice, Venice by Pietro di Gottardo Gonzaga was sold in the OLD MASTER PICTURES & DRAWINGS auction at Christies in London in December 2004. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,673.00 (€ 2,367.76), 67% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Pietro di Gottardo Gonzaga have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Two designs for the stage: The courtyard of a palace; and The fortified moat of a castle in January 2000 with an auction result of USD 18,400.00 (€ 18,858.26).

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.673,00 (€ 2.367,76) und damit 67% über dem oberen Schätzpreis.
