Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A landscape with herdsman by Pietro Giacomo Palmieri was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,764.00 (€ 1,453.65). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pietro Giacomo Palmieri achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Moonlit Landscape With Fishermen in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 11,875.00 (€ 14,978.11).
