This artwork by Pietro Bellotti achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in January 2016. In the The Collection of A. Alfred Taubman: Old Masters auction, the work Venice, The Grand Canal At The Entrance To The Cannaregio With The Church Of San Geremia And The Palazzo Labia sold for USD 490,000.00 (€ 452,363.37) - well above the upper estimate of USD 200,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Pietro Bellotti; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Venice with the Punta della Dogana, looking East towards the Doge's Palace; and Venice with the Grand Canal, S. Geremia and the entrance to the Cannaregio sold at auction in July last year with the realized price of GBP 425,000.00 (€ 507,525.49).
