Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Pieter van Mol could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in February 2013 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master and 19th Century European Paintings and Drawings, including Property from the Estate of Giancarlo Baroni auction, the work The Lamentation changed hands for USD 17,500.00 (€ 13,380.23) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pieter van Mol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Diogenes with his lantern looking for an honest man in January last year with an auction result of USD 5,779,200.00 (€ 5,154,477.35).
In der Auktion Old Master and 19th Century European Paintings and Drawings, including Property from the Estate of Giancarlo Baroni wechselte die Arbeit The Lamentation für USD 17.500,00 (€ 13.380,23) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00.
