This work of art by Pieter van Mol could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in February 2018 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Master Paintings and Sculpture Day Sale auction, the work Study Of A Boy'S Head changed hands for USD 23,750.00 (€ 19,449.68) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pieter van Mol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Diogenes with his lantern looking for an honest man in January last year with an auction result of USD 5,779,200.00 (€ 5,154,477.35).
