It achieved a price of USD 21,250.00 (€ 16,279.78), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 42%. Admittedly, works by Pieter Nason have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a silver silk dress decorated with pearls, standing in a park landscape near a bush of roses in May 2008 with an auction result of EUR 78,250.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 42 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Portrait of a boy, possibly Willem van Liere (1653-1706), as Mars, in classical dress with a cuirass, sword and halberd, in a landscape von Pieter Nason wurde im Januar 2012 in der Auktion Old Master Paintings Part II bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 21.250,00 (€ 16.279,78) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 42%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Pieter Nason auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a silver silk dress decorated with pearls, standing in a park landscape near a bush of roses im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 78.250,00.
