Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A capriccio view of a busy harbour scene by Pieter Casteels II was sold in the Old Master Paintings auction at Bonhams in London in April last year. The price achieved of GBP 3,187.50 (€ 3,800.98) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Admittedly, works by Pieter Casteels II have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Capriccio of A Busy Port With The Ruins of A Triumphal Arch; And A Capriccio of A Busy Port With A Bridge, A Coach In The Foreground in April 2008 with an auction result of GBP 22,100.00 (€ 28,174.38).
