Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2013 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture, which included the work Portrait Of The Edouard Colbert, Marquis De Villacerf by Pierre Mignard. It changed hands for a price of USD 37,500.00 (€ 28,671.92) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pierre Mignard - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of a cleric, said to be Jean-François-Paul de Gondi, future Cardinal de Retz (1613-1679), seated three-quarter-length, a book in his hand, at a table, which sold at auction in December 2005 for GBP 78,000.00 (€ 113,212.63).

Im Februar 2013 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of The Edouard Colbert, Marquis De Villacerf von Pierre Mignard zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 37.500,00 (€ 28.671,92) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Pierre Mignard mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of a cleric, said to be Jean-François-Paul de Gondi, future Cardinal de Retz (1613-1679), seated three-quarter-length, a book in his hand, at a table beobachtet, die im Dezember 2005 für GBP 78.000,00 (€ 113.212,63) versteigert wurde.
