Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2021 Sothebys in Paris held the auction Tableaux Dessins Sculptures 1300-1900, Session I, which included the work An architectural capriccio with the Louvre Palace in ruins by Pierre-Henri de Valenciennes. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 80,000.00 – 100,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 81,900.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Pierre-Henri de Valenciennes have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Classical Landscape With A View Of Colonus, The Eumenides Temple On Mount Citheron, Oedipus And His Daughter Antigone Begging The Villagers Who Want To Expel Them From Their Sacred Ground; A Classical Landscape With Ulysses Imploring The Assistance Of N in January 2008 with an auction result of
Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Pierre-Henri de Valenciennes auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Classical Landscape With A View Of Colonus, The Eumenides Temple On Mount Citheron, Oedipus And His Daughter Antigone Begging The Villagers Who Want To Expel Them From Their Sacred Ground; A Classical Landscape With Ulysses Imploring The Assistance Of N im Januar 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebn
