Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Three-Piece Clock Garniture by Pierre-Eugène-Émile Hébert was auctioned at Sothebys in London in June 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,571.62). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pierre-Eugène-Émile Hébert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Semiramis, which sold at auction in October 2007 for USD 25,000.00 (€ 17,279.51).
