Auction result misses estimated price range
In January this year a collector was able to acquire the work A Hunter Saddling His Horse And A Shepherd Family, An Extensive Landscape Beyond by Philips Wouwerman for USD 81,900.00 (€ 75,428.26). This price was achieved in the auction Modern Medici: Masterpieces from a New York Collection at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philips Wouwerman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The departure of a hunting party in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 1,217,250.00 (€ 1,463,605.98).
