In July 2010 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings & WatercoloursEvening, which included the work The departure of a hunting party by Philips Wouwerman. The price achieved of GBP 1,217,250.00 (€ 1,463,605.98) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The departure of a hunting party is the most expensive artwork by Philips Wouwerman that we have observed at auctions so far.
